Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: Easy to install, set up and use.
Ubuntu is the best operating system you could install on your computer. It is a free operating system with thousands of free open source programs available. You can download it from their website. You will need no anti virus or anti spyware programs. I recommend you select the 32 bit version of Ubuntu 10.04 as it is supported with updates until April, 2013.
Ubuntu is a live CD.
You can run it directly from the CD. It will load and run very slow when running from the CD. It will boot up and run a lot faster when installed on your hard drive.
You can also install it along side MS Windows and boot into either operating system when you start your computer.

Ubuntu is easy to configure the way you want.
It is based on Debian, one of the best operating systems available. Ubuntu is the most user friendly and the most popular Linux based operating systems available.

It is recommended you have at least 512 MB of RAM memory and 20 GB of free space on your hard drive.
We do not recommend you download version 11.04 or 11.10 as you will probably be disappointed. They are using their own desktop, called Unity and it is a cluttered up mess. We would hope they will fix this in future versions. We recommend version 10.04 for the present time.

Copy it as an image. This is an iso file. If you just copy the iso file to a disc it won’t work. Most cd burning software will allow you to copy an iso file as an image.
Custom Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on DVD
This is the standard version of Ubuntu with many extra programs added. This also includes current updates.
This is made available for people who have a slow or no Internet connection or just don’t want to spend time downloading and installing additional programs. It is made available on DVD as it is too large to fit of a CD.
