You can set up your website yourself using a free blogging software called WordPress.  You don’t need to learn HTML code to get started.  You should learn a little HTML later as it will be useful.

You can install WordPress on your hard drive and get familiar with it.  It will only be visible on your computer.  You can learn to use it before you get a web hosting service.  It takes a little time to learn, but it is not that difficult at all.

This entire site was set up using WordPress.  Many of the old timer Internet marketers are switching to it.  It has many free themes to make it look professional.  It also has many plug-ins to enhance it’s use.

Sell your own product(s) and/or service(s)

If you have ideas of what you want to market online and it is something that you enjoy, this is the best thing for you to market on your site.  If you enjoy what you are doing you will be more likely to stick with it.

You must be persistent.  Never quit.  If something doesn’t work, try something else.  Keep learning.  Things you try can fail to work many times.  You only need to succeed once.  When things start to work for you it will be worth the effort.

WordPress Automatic Upgrade

The developers upgrade wordpress to a newer version quite often and this plugin makes it easy to install the upgrade. There are a few steps to the process and the plugin tells you exactly what to do in each step. All you need to do is click on the next step. It has worked for me every time I have used it with no problems at all.

One Click Plugin Updater

This plugin does exactly what the name says. It will notify you when updates are available at the top of your admin panel. All you need to do is click on it and all your plugins will be updated. It’s as easy as that.

WP Realtime Sitemap

This helps visitors find what they are looking for on a website. You set it up to list all pages and posts on your site.  When you add a new page or post, it automatically adds it to your site map.

WordPress Database Backup

I recommend you install this plugin. It could save you a lot of time and work if by some chance your site gets messed up or worse, goes completely down.  A backup of your database would save you a lot of time in such a situation.

Akismet

This plugin is already included within wordpress. It’s function is to filter out spam and it does it very well. There are spam robots being used to put all types of stuff in your comments. Akismet will help you to filter this out.

If a comment is not about your page or post, don’t accept it.

This plugin helps to optonize your site to get a high search engine rank.

Google Analytics for WordPress

It allows you to track your blog easily and with lots of metadata.

Google XML Sitemaps

Helps search engines to better index your site.

This plugin is for uploading and managing downloads. It also tracks the downloads.

WordPress is a content management system that many Internet marketers are now using to set up a complete website. This website is powered completely by wordpress. I have tested it with every web browser I could find and it works well on all of them. Just make sure that any hosting service you choose has cpanel. This makes installing wordpress much easier. WordPress is free.

This site is hosted on Bluehost which has cpanel. It is very easy to install wordpress on Bluehost. It is very easy to use. If you purchase Holly Mann’s Honest Riches ebook she will tell you in that book how you can have her install wordpress on Bluehost for you free. She has a partnership with Bluehost and she will only install it on that hosting service. Bluehost is an excellent web hosting service that I use. Their service is very reasonably priced. Install WordPress on Your Computer

You can also install wordpress on your computer (localhost) by first installing a program called xampp. It is easy to install on MS Windows (any version). You can then install wordpress on xampp. Understand, this is installed on your localhost (your hard drive on your computer). This is not the same as installing it on a web host. No one will have access to use it or view it except you. This allows you to learn to use  it (it is very easy to learn). I have written a tutorial on how to install it on your computer. There are two tutorials, one for installation on MS Windows and one for installation on Ubuntu.

Don’t ever use free hosting for your business website. This would be a big mistake. They can shut your site down anytime they please. They will probably clutter your site with banner ads. You won’t have your own unique domain name.

You can find web hosting services that are very inexpensive.

My hosting service

The only hosting service I use is Bluehost. It is the only one I can give an honest review on.

I have been with Bluehost for several years and am thoroughly pleased with their service.

You can also get a domain name through them. The domain name registration is free when you get it through them.

I have used their tech support several times when I myself messed things up and they had the problem resolved in most cases in just a few minutes. Their technical support and customer service is exceptional.

Bluehost has cpanel. You can install wordpress using cpanel. I recommend using wordpress. There is information about wordpress on this site.

Hosting this website at the time of this post costs $6.95 per month prepaid for one year. That equals to $83.40 for one year of hosting. You can prepay for up to three years. I can’t guarantee you this price won’t change. I have no control of their pricing. The price is very reasonable for the excellent service they provide.

I am sure there are other good hosting services, but Bluehost is my personal choice. I highly recommend them.

Affiliate marketing is selling other merchants’ products/services for a percentage of the selling amount. Most online merchants have an affiliate program. Affiliate marketing is the quickest and easiest online business to set up and operate.

You don’t need:

* your own product

* a shopping cart

* a merchant account to accept credit card payments

* customer service to handle complaints

The merchants you represent take care of all the above. You simply write an honest review of the product(s), put your affiliate link at the end of your review and when a visitor to your site clicks on that link and purchases the product you get paid.

Understand, you must have the product to give an honest review. If you write a phony review on a product that you don’t have and it turns out to be trash, when people read your review and purchase it, they will never trust your reviews again and will probably never purchase any product through your affiliate links.

Your must write reviews on products you have purchased and tested. The bottom line is simply be honest!

The price of products/services is the same if they go through your affiliate link or directly to the merchant site.

The reviews on this site are affiliate programs.

If you are unemployed, start now getting your business set up. Affiliate marketing is the easiest business because you don’t need your own product(s).

If you are still employed, start now to learn everything you can about setting up your own online business. Set it up as soon as possible. Work at it part time until you are earning the income you need and then you can work full time at it.

It will work best if you specialize in something you enjoy doing. Do online research to find something you like. The most important thing is to get started now.

You don’t have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on expensive video training or membership sites.  All you need is a good ebook.  Two of the ones that are highly recommended are reviewed here.  I only review books that I have purchased and use.  Either one of these books will give you all the information you need.  They both are less than $50.00.

You can also install WordPress on your hard drive and learn to use it before you sigh up for web hosting.  It will only be available on your computer and it will only be visible on your computer.  There is a tutorial on our free downloads page to help you install it.

You also might want to read the post on free alternative operating systems here.  I use the Linux distribution Ubuntu.  It is very easy to install and use with thousand of free open source programs available that you can download and install.  You can install it along side MS Windows and choose the one you want when your turn on your computer by selecting  it from a menu.

During slow economic times companies have to cut costs. One of the ways they do that is letting people go. In most cases they have no choice. They have to cut their expenses any way possible or go bankrupt and if this happens all employees lose their job.

There have been several factories close in my area.  My daughter in law lost her job when the place where she worked closed.
